Shipping & insurance

What your bid covers

  • The final bid price or Buy It Now price is for the machine only.
  • Shipping is excluded from that price, without exception.
  • Freight is billed on a separate invoice, issued after the sale closes.
  • You may also arrange your own carrier — tell us before we book, and we'll release the machine for your pickup instead.

How freight is quoted

  • Rate is set by distance and by the machine's weight and dimensions.
  • Heavier or oversize machines need a bigger trailer, so they carry a higher per-mile rate.
  • The calculator above gives an estimate. The freight invoice gives the real number.
  • Oversize permits, pilot cars, and non-running loading assistance are quoted on top when the route or machine requires them.

Insurance in transit

  • Every haul we book moves with a fully insured, FMCSA-licensed carrier.
  • Cargo coverage is included in your freight invoice — there is no separate insurance line to buy.
  • Coverage runs from the moment the machine is loaded until it is released at delivery.
  • Request a certificate of insurance at any time and we'll send it.

Payment & release

  • Pay the machine invoice first. It clears the sale.
  • Pay the freight invoice next. It releases the machine to the carrier.
  • Transport is dispatched once both invoices clear.
  • Funds are held in escrow through Auction Direct Preowned until delivery is confirmed.

Delivery & inspection

  • Delivery is curbside — the site must be reachable by a full-size truck and trailer.
  • Inspect the machine before you sign the bill of lading.
  • Note any damage on the bill of lading at the moment of delivery. A signed clean BOL closes the claim window.
  • Report a concealed issue within 48 hours of delivery and we'll open a claim with the carrier.

Timing

  • Under 500 miles: typically 2–4 days from dispatch.
  • 500–1,500 miles: typically 4–7 days.
  • Over 1,500 miles: typically 7–12 days.
  • Weather, permit processing, and carrier availability move these windows. We'll tell you the day the carrier is booked.

Figures produced by the calculator on this page are planning estimates based on state-to-state distances and equipment class. They are not offers and do not bind Auction Direct Preowned or any carrier. Your freight price is the amount on your freight invoice. Final rates move with fuel, lane demand, season, and the specific pickup and delivery addresses.
